Peta Aberhart
My curiosity for travel began with a Japanese tea set my mother owned, given to her by my uncle. When you held the cup up to the light, you could see the image of a geisha hidden inside the base. As a child, that small detail captured my imagination and set my mind drifting to far-off places. I began travelling the world in my thoughts long before I ever left home.
In 2000, I set off on my OE, and not long after, serendipitously began my career in travel. In 2001, I started working in Europe as a Tour Director for Contiki Holidays. Since then, I’ve travelled to more than 50 countries, many of which I’ve been fortunate enough to visit multiple times.
My career has taken me across many areas of the travel industry, including tour directing, product development and quality control in both Europe and Latin America, business development, national sales, and account management. Eventually, I moved into leisure travel within the retail sector, most recently as the Retail Manager at Calder & Lawson.
I’ve always had a deep passion for both people and travel, and I love that my work allows me to bring those two passions together. Helping clients create extraordinary holidays is incredibly rewarding and often feel like I’m travelling right alongside them, experiencing each moment through their stories.
My specialties include adventure travel, solo travel, luxury travel, small ship cruising, expedition cruising, couples’ getaways, women’s-only travel, intergenerational family holidays, and guided tours.

I have used Peta for over 10 years to organise a range of travel, and she is quite simply exceptional at what she does.
Most recently, she helped us plan a large family trip to Canada and Alaska for 13 people aged between 5 and 78. It was a complex itinerary with a wide range of needs, interests and logistics to coordinate, but Peta handled it effortlessly.
What sets Peta apart is the time she takes to genuinely understand what you want from a trip. She listens carefully and then comes back with thoughtful, well-considered options that make the decision process easy. The final itinerary she created for us was cohesive, seamless and incredibly well organised.
Every accommodation, activity and cruise she recommended was exactly right for our family. The trip exceeded all expectations and created memories that we will talk about for years.
Peta has the rare ability to combine meticulous organisation with a deep understanding of people and what makes a holiday truly special. I cannot recommend her highly enough and will absolutely continue to use her services in the future. — Sarah Elliott
Peta’s experience in the travel industry gives you a real sense of confidence when planning a trip. She has a great eye for detail and takes the time to understand what you enjoy, often suggesting experiences I would not have thought of myself. Her recommendations have always been thoughtful and well suited to my interests. I would happily recommend Peta to anyone looking for help planning their travels. Ngā mihi. - Rachel Ward-McCarten
Peta has been a travel advisor of mine for over 25 years. Her in-depth knowledge of countries, destinations and special places is truly special, and she is undoubtedly the most well-travelled person I know.
Peta’s love of history and culture shines through in her work. She is well-researched, dedicated and able to work with budgets. Her professional travel expertise spans many areas, from front-line tour management to luxury travel. She has booked a wide range of travel from family holidays to girls’ trips for us.
Peta’s travel expertise was invaluable to my family when we were in the Gilli Islands in Indonesia when a significant earthquake took place. Peta was in regular contact, providing travel advice and support while we were in the initial stages of being evacuated, then helped source accommodation in Bali and also found alternative flights to get us home, dealing with airlines on our behalf. Having Peta to help us navigate the crisis of a natural disaster in a different country was a godsend and reduced the stress and trauma on our family with two young children.
I am very fortunate to have had Peta’s travel advice and support over the years and look forward to many more ahead. - Rennie
